Clash rocks Siliguri College as SFI blames ABVP for attack

Tension gripped Siliguri College on Wednesday afternoon following an alleged clash between student groups inside the campus. The Students Federation of India claimed that Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad members entered the campus and assaulted its supporters. An injured female student stated that outsiders were also involved in the attack. SFI members alleged that police and teachers were present at the scene but did not stop the violence. Videos of the incident show youths raising slogans inside the college premises. Students stated they sought help from the principal and teachers but did not receive immediate assistance.

Political slogans raised despite ban

ABVP supporters entered the college premises on Wednesday and raised slogans. State tourism minister and college governing body head Shankar Ghosh had earlier banned political slogans inside the campus. The violation of this rule has raised questions about the management of the college.

ABVP denies involvement in clash

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad rejected all allegations of attacking SFI supporters. The organization stated that ABVP had no role in the campus incidents. ABVP claimed that general students held protests and raised slogans on their own. Police and college authorities did not issue any statement regarding the incident at the time of writing this report.
