Siliguri BJP Leader Accused of Land Grabbing at Public Event

A woman has accused a local BJP leader of attempting to capture her family land during a public outreach program held by state minister Shankar Ghosh in Siliguri. The incident occurred at the Sidhe Shankar event, where the resident of Deshbandhupara raised her concerns directly before the minister, sparking discussions in local political circles.

Details of the Land Dispute

According to the complainant, Deepanwita Pal, the dispute involves family land located in the Rajani Bagan area near Hill Cart Road. She stated that there are seven legal heirs to the property and claimed that a land agreement made in 1999 with the mother of BJP leader Nantu Pal was never completed through official registration. She alleged that this old agreement is now being used to create a dispute over the property. The woman claimed that the land had already been locked by the other party and that she faced difficulties when trying to file a police complaint.

Response from Minister and BJP Leader

Minister Shankar Ghosh listened to the grievance during the program and stated that he would not draw conclusions based on one side of the story. He assured that appropriate action would be taken if the allegations are found to be true. Meanwhile, Nantu Pal, who is a coordinator for ward number 12 of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation, has denied all accusations. He stated that the allegations are baseless and that the land in question was his mother's ancestral property.

Legal Stance of the Accused

Nantu Pal explained that he intended to purchase the land legally by paying a fair price, but the matter has remained unresolved for a long time. He confirmed that he had filed a police complaint regarding the matter and has informed both the local MLA and his party leadership about the ongoing situation.
