State tourism minister Shankar Ghosh inspected major roads in Siliguri along with police and municipal commissioners to review traffic normal and immersion issues. The administration has strictly ordered puja committees to remove all temporary puja gates from the roads immediately. Minister Ghosh stated that clearing the roads is necessary to ensure normal traffic flow without any further delay.
Authorities raised serious concerns over careless driving and overcrowded vehicles during the idol immersion processions. The minister noted that municipal staff had to intervene during one club immersion due to the chaotic situation.
The administration already has details of all committees involved in the mismanagement. Organizers must balance celebrations with public safety and proper management. To prevent such issues,
the administration plans to release new safety guidelines by December or January for next year Durga Puja.
