Siliguri Admin Makes Price Display Mandatory for Shops

The administration in Siliguri has taken strict action to control rising prices of daily use goods and vegetables. A special task force meeting was held at the circuit house on Tuesday to monitor market prices and stop black marketing. The meeting was chaired by DCP East Zone Rana Mukherjee and attended by various market committee representatives and business owners.

New Rules for Retailers

DCP Rana Mukherjee directed all retail traders to display the prices of essential goods and vegetables prominently in their shops starting from September 3. Business owners must clearly show the buying price from the wholesale market and the selling price to customers. This step aims to show the price difference to buyers and stop unfair price hikes.

Strict Market Monitoring

The administration made it clear that black marketing and overcharging of essential goods will not be tolerated under any circumstances. A task force team will continuously monitor market prices and conduct surprise inspections in different markets. This special task force was formed under state government directions to control rising prices of daily use items. ACP Robin Thapa and ACP Farook Mohammed Chaudhary were also present at the meeting.
