Siliguri Municipal Corporation has added twelve new vehicles to its fleet to improve garbage cleaning and waste transport services in the city. State Tourism Minister Shankar Ghosh officially launched these vehicles during a program held in front of Baghajatin Park on Wednesday.
The new vehicles include four earthmovers and eight dumpers which will be used to quickly lift and transport daily waste from various wards and important areas to the designated dumping site. Municipal officials and department employees were present during the launch event after which the vehicles immediately started their work.
These twelve vehicles were purchased at a total cost of around 4.42 crore rupees to strengthen the municipal infrastructure for better city cleanliness and effective waste management.
