Sikkim Government Announces Two New Awards for Mothers

Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang has announced two new awards under the Ama Samman initiative to honor the contributions of mothers in the state. These awards will be presented during the second Ama Samman Diwas, which will be held at the Rangpo playground on June 9 alongside the Unnati Diwas celebration. The government shifted the venue to the Rangpo playground to ensure higher public participation.

Details of the Ama Samman Awards

Under the new award schemes, one eligible mother from each assembly constituency in the state will be selected for the Ama Samman Puraskar. Selected mothers will receive a cash prize of Rs 51,000. This specific award is reserved for mothers who are not currently beneficiaries of the Ama Sashaktikaran Yojana. The state government aims to recognize the selfless love and sacrifices made by mothers in building families and society through this initiative.

Pragatishil Ama Puraskar for Scheme Beneficiaries

In addition to the Ama Samman Puraskar, the government has introduced the Pragatishil Ama Puraskar. This award will honor three mothers who have made the best and most inspiring use of the financial assistance received under the Ama Sashaktikaran Yojana. The first, second, and third-place winners will receive cash prizes of Rs 5 lakh, Rs 3 lakh, and Rs 2 lakh respectively.

Transparent Selection Process

During a coordination meeting held at Samman Bhawan, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang instructed ministers, legislators, party officials, and bureaucrats to work together to ensure the success of the program. The Chief Minister emphasized that the selection process for both beneficiaries and award winners must be transparent, fair, and just. The event serves as a platform for the state to express gratitude toward the mothers of Sikkim for their significant role in societal development.
