Indian cricket team captain Shubman Gill is preparing to play his first One-Day International at the Mullanpur Stadium in New Chandigarh. The star batter is coming off a record-breaking double century against West Indies in the previous match played at Guwahati. During that game, he scored an unbeaten 223 runs from 133 balls to help India successfully chase a target of 406 runs.
Gill has played a limited number of international matches at the New Chandigarh venue. He recorded a duck against South Africa in a Test match last year but bounced back with 126 runs against Afghanistan in June. In Indian Premier League matches at the same ground,
he has scored 179 runs across five innings with one century. Overall,
he has accumulated 305 runs across six matches at this stadium.
The upcoming third ODI match gives
Gill a chance to reach 4,000 international runs at home. Currently,
he has scored 3,957 runs in home conditions across 65 matches with an average of 57.34. During the first match of the current series,
he also crossed the mark of 2,000 ODI runs at home.
