Shubman Gill breaks record for fastest ODI double hundred

India skipper Shubman Gill made history on Wednesday by smashing the fastest double hundred in ODI cricket during the match against West Indies in Guwahati. Gill reached the milestone in just 117 balls to set a new world record.

New Records Set by Gill

Gill surpassed Indian wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan, who previously held the record by taking 126 balls against Bangladesh in 2022. Gill is now only the second batter after Glenn Maxwell to score an ODI double century while chasing. He also became the second batter after Rohit Sharma to register multiple double centuries in men's ODI cricket.

Rohit Sharma Reaches 12000 ODI Runs

During the same match, India player Rohit Sharma reached another major landmark by becoming the third Indian batter to complete 12,000 runs in ODI format. Rohit reached 12,000 ODI runs in 282 innings, joining Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli in the elite list.
