The Autonomous District Council of Senapati held an inter-college PowerPoint presentation competition on solid waste management and flood mitigation on October 4, 2026. Held at the DRDA Hall during the Seva Sankalp Utsav 2026, the event aimed to find student-led solutions for regional environmental issues. Students from various local colleges took part by presenting community-focused models and practical strategies.
Additional Deputy Commissioner A. Adahrii Maheo delivered the keynote address at the event. He stated that rapid district growth, population increase, lifestyle changes, and new infrastructure have made urgent approaches to waste disposal and urban flooding necessary. He urged students to create sustainable and local solutions to build better environmental resilience.
Don Bosco College Maram won first place in the student competition. Mt Pisgah College secured second place, and St. Xavier College took third place. District officers, town committee members, educators, and village leaders attended the program. The district has also previously invested in sustainable infrastructure through a Rs. 2.90 crore project for waste collection, segregation, and a Material Recovery Facility under the 15th Finance Commission.
