Joint security forces, including Manipur Police and central personnel, conducted an anti-insurgency operation in the Wabagai Turenmamei area of Kakching district on Tuesday, August 11, 2026. The mission was launched following specific intelligence reports regarding hidden arms in the region. The operation resulted in the recovery of a significant cache of weapons and military equipment.

Details of the Recovered Weapons

The search operation led to the recovery of several firearms and explosive devices. The seized items include a .303 rifle, three carbines, a 9mm pistol, and various single-barrel guns. Security teams also discovered heavy ordnance, which included a 51mm mortar bomb, tube-launching devices, and two hand grenades.

Confiscated Military Gear and Ammunition

In addition to the firearms, the security forces found 18 rounds of live ammunition. The team also recovered tactical military gear, including fatigues, bulletproof iron plates, vest covers, and handheld communication devices. All confiscated materials were transported to the Hiyanglam Police Station for forensic analysis and proper disposal.

Ongoing Search Operations

Authorities have increased their presence and intensified search operations in the areas surrounding Wabagai Turenmamei. The police are currently working to identify the individuals or groups responsible for the illegal hoarding of these weapons.
