Security Forces Seize Large Cache of Arms in Manipur

Security forces recovered a significant cache of weaponry, explosives, and tactical gear from the Khema Reserved Forest in Manipur’s Imphal East district on Saturday, August 8, 2026. This joint operation was carried out by the Manipur Police and central security forces after receiving specific intelligence reports about hidden stockpiles in the area. The operation targeted the Napet Palli area located near the Forest Beat Officer’s office.

Details of the Recovered Items

The recovery included a wide range of weapons and military supplies meant for field operations. The list of confiscated items features four 9mm pistols, two single-barrel guns, and a 4.6 kg improvised explosive device (IED). Authorities also seized 14 hand grenades, two stun shells, and 162 live rounds of ammunition. Beyond the weaponry, the security teams found military fatigues, bulletproof gear, a communication set, and various field supplies hidden in the forest.

Current Status and Investigation

Following the recovery, all seized materials have been moved to police custody to undergo forensic examination and professional disposal. Security agencies are working to identify the group responsible for hiding these items in the Khema Reserved Forest. Authorities have intensified patrolling efforts across the forest belt to maintain safety in the region. An investigation is currently underway to track the individuals or groups linked to this cache.
