Security Forces Seize Large Arms Cache in Manipur

Security forces recovered a significant amount of weapons and explosives during a joint anti-insurgency operation in the Kakching district of Manipur on Tuesday, August 11, 2026. The search operation was conducted in the Wabagai Turenmamei area under the jurisdiction of the Hiyanglam Police Station following specific intelligence reports regarding hidden arms. The search operation led to the discovery of a wide range of military-grade items. The recovered arsenal included one .303 rifle, one 9mm pistol, three carbines, and three single-barrel guns, all found with empty magazines. Additionally, authorities seized one INSAS rifle bayonet, one 51mm mortar bomb, three tube-launching devices, and two hand grenades. The search team also found 18 live rounds of ammunition alongside military fatigues and tactical gear. Other items recovered included bulletproof iron plates, bulletproof vest covers, and handheld communication sets used for field operations.

Following the recovery, all seized weapons, explosives, and combat equipment were handed over to the local police department. These items will now undergo a forensic examination to assist in the ongoing investigation.
