Security Forces Seize Heroin in Manipur Joint Operation

Security forces conducted a joint anti-narcotics operation on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, leading to the seizure of heroin and the arrest of two individuals in Manipur. The operation involved the Bishnupur District Police, the Churachandpur District Police, and Central Security Forces working together to intercept illegal substances.

Details of the Narcotics Seizure

Authorities stopped a Mahindra Scorpio SUV with registration number AS 01BQ 0104 that was traveling from Churachandpur toward Imphal. During a thorough search of the vehicle, police discovered nine soap cases containing approximately 96 grams of suspected heroin. This coordinated effort successfully prevented the transport of these illegal narcotics across district borders.

Following the discovery of the contraband, police apprehended two suspects identified as 29-year-old Md. Abdur Rahaman and 24-year-old Md. Saruk Khan. In addition to the narcotics, officers seized the vehicle and two mobile phones found in their possession. The suspects are now in police custody and face charges under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Ongoing Investigation

Law enforcement officials are continuing their investigation into the matter. Investigators are currently questioning the suspects to determine the origin of the seized contraband and to identify the wider supply networks involved in moving illegal substances across the region. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
