Security forces have caught 27 foreign nationals during a major anti-smuggling operation in Assam. Authorities dismantled an organized human smuggling network during this coordinated operation across Guwahati and Bongaigaon. The group had illegally crossed the unfenced border terrain in Meghalaya.
The group included 16 men and 11 women and children. They initially traveled on foot through zero-point jungle tracts near Dawki. After that, they boarded private transport designed to avoid border district checkposts. The Border Branch confirmed that the syndicate used the Assam–Meghalaya highway as its main inland transfer route.
Security personnel took 12 individuals into custody at the Paltan Bazar bus terminus in Guwahati. At the same time, a coordinated alert to the Railway Protection Force led to the interception of 15 more members. These individuals had already boarded the outbound Jammu-Tawi Express at Rangia. Security agencies have seized evidence including route maps, mobile call records, and handler ledgers. Officials have started an inter-state manhunt to find the transit agents operating along the border ravines.
