Saharanpur to Observe Partition Horrors Remembrance Day

The Saharanpur district administration has announced plans to observe Partition Horrors Remembrance Day on August 14. A series of events and exhibitions will be held at the Government Inter College in Nehru Market to commemorate the occasion and honor the victims of the partition.

Events and Tiranga Rally Details

Following the instructions of District Magistrate Arvind Kumar Chauhan, a planning meeting was held at the Collectorate auditorium. Chief Development Officer Sumit Rajesh Mahajan confirmed that a Tiranga rally will be organized under the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign. The rally is scheduled to start at 10:00 AM from the Divisional Commissioner office and will conclude at the Government Inter College in Nehru Market. Various government departments, including the industry and education sectors, will set up stalls as part of the Tiranga festival celebrations.

Exhibition and Tribute Ceremony

At 11:00 AM, an exhibition featuring historical records related to the partition will be opened at the Government Inter College. The event will include a silent tribute to those who lost their lives during the partition. Displaced families who were affected by the tragedy have been invited to attend the ceremony. These families will also be formally honored during the program for their resilience and contribution to the community.

Official Coordination for the Program

The administration has directed all relevant departments to ensure the events are conducted according to the scheduled plan. Several senior officials attended the preparatory meeting, including Additional District Magistrate Santosh Bahadur Singh and District Information Officer Dilip Kumar Gupta. The district authorities aim to ensure that the remembrance day is observed with appropriate solemnity and respect.
