Indian batter Rohit Sharma praised his opening partner and captain Shubman Gill for his double century during a record-breaking chase against West Indies in Guwahati.
Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill put on a 255-run opening partnership during a successful run chase of 406 runs. Rohit scored 101 runs from 75 balls while Gill finished unbeaten at 223 runs from 133 balls. Rohit stated that fielding for the entire innings and then playing such a large knock shows immense determination and concentration from the captain.
Shubman Gill scored the fastest double century in ODI history and recorded the highest individual score while chasing. Gill also became the first cricketer to score an ODI double century while leading his side. West Indies earlier posted a total of 405/7 with centuries from John Campbell, Shai Hope, and Amir Jangoo before India successfully chased the target with eight wickets in hand.
