Road Safety Week 2026 Begins in Islampur

The West Bengal Transport Department has launched the Road Safety Week 2026 across the state, including the Islampur police district. On Monday, the Islampur police conducted an awareness rally that traveled through major roads and concluded at the local bus terminus to educate the public on road safety protocols. This initiative aims to reduce road accidents by promoting responsible driving habits among citizens.

Awareness Drive and Helmet Distribution

During the event at the bus terminus, police officials actively engaged with motorcycle riders and pedestrians to explain the importance of traffic rules. The authorities distributed awareness pamphlets and provided helmets to riders to encourage safer commuting practices. The campaign emphasized the necessity of wearing helmets, strictly following speed limits, and maintaining caution while operating vehicles on the road.

Focus on Public Safety and Cooperation

Police officials stated that wearing a helmet is essential for personal safety and ensuring that individuals return home safely to their families. The event saw the presence of key officials, including Islampur Police District Superintendent Rakesh Singh, Additional Superintendent Dedoon Sherpa, and various traffic department personnel. The police highlighted that legal enforcement alone is not enough to prevent accidents and that active cooperation from the public is vital for road safety.
