The India Meteorological Department has forecasted cloudy skies accompanied by thunderstorms and rain across several parts of West Bengal this Monday. Weather officials state that districts in both Gangetic West Bengal and sub-Himalayan West Bengal are likely to experience lightning and strong winds in certain areas. This weather pattern is currently influenced by a low-pressure area that formed over southern West Bengal and the neighboring Odisha region on August 8.

Weather Forecast for North Bengal Districts

In the northern parts of the state, including Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, and Cooch Behar, the weather will remain cloudy with light to moderate rainfall. Residents in North Dinajpur, South Dinajpur, and Malda can also expect scattered rain in some locations. The hilly districts are predicted to remain relatively more humid compared to other regions throughout the day.

Conditions in South Bengal and Kolkata

Districts including Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly, North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, Nadia, and East Bardhaman will see persistent cloud cover with intermittent rain and thunderstorms. The city of Kolkata and its surrounding areas are expected to face humid conditions alongside sudden spells of rain. Similar weather activity, including the possibility of gusty winds, is anticipated in West Medinipur, East Medinipur, Jhargram, Bankura, Purulia, and West Bardhaman, as well as in Murshidabad and Birbhum.

Temperature and Future Outlook

Across the state, the maximum temperature is expected to range between 32 and 34 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will likely stay between 25 and 27 degrees Celsius. Despite the rainfall, high humidity levels will persist throughout the state. According to the latest updates from Hindusthan Samachar, the weather department has already issued warnings for heavy rainfall between August 14 and 16, as wet conditions are likely to continue for the next few days.
