Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, the founder of the TIPRA Motha party, has officially announced his retirement from active politics to focus on his health, family, and personal well-being. He stated that his withdrawal from public life is permanent and deliberate, and not a temporary retreat. Debbarma noted that years of heavy public responsibility and intense political work had taken a severe personal toll on him.
During his career, Debbarma focused on securing dignity, constitutional rights, and a better future for the
indigenous communities of Tripura. He highlighted important milestones such as the Bru settlement and the movement for the Tiprasa Accord. He urged both the Centre and the Tripura government to
implement the commitments of the Tiprasa Accord within the stipulated timeframe, reminding them of the assurances given by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha. He stressed that the accord is bigger than any single individual or party.
Even after stepping away from politics, Debbarma stated that he
will remain connected with the people of Tripura. He plans to spend more time with his family and close to nature while continuing to care about the dignity and future of the state. He also appealed for
unity and peace among all communities in the region, thanking the public for their continued support throughout his political journey.
