Police Seize Two Trucks Carrying Illegal Sand in Islampur

Police in the Uttar Dinajpur district have seized two trucks loaded with sand during an operation against illegal sand smuggling in the Chakulia police station area. The action took place on Monday as part of a routine surveillance and search drive conducted by local authorities.
Details of the Operation
During the patrol, police officials identified two trucks moving in a suspicious manner across different parts of the Chakulia area. When officers signaled for the vehicles to stop, the drivers attempted to flee the scene instead of complying. The police pursued the trucks until they were forced to stop near the Kaki railway gate due to a closed crossing. Following the interception, officers took both vehicles into custody and detained the drivers for further questioning at the local police station.
Lack of Valid Documents
Upon inspecting the seized vehicles, authorities discovered that the drivers did not possess the required paperwork for the transport. Preliminary investigations confirmed that the drivers could not provide valid challans, royalty receipts, or any other necessary transit documents for the sand being carried. The police continue to hold the vehicles and the drivers as the investigation into the illegal activity proceeds.
