Police seize illegal weapons from abandoned quarters in Jamuria

The Asansol-Durgapur Police Commissionerate recovered a large cache of illegal weapons and ammunition from an abandoned Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) quarter in Jamuria. The joint operation was carried out by the Detective Department and Jamuria police station following a tip-off from a suspect currently in police custody.

Details of the police operation

Police conducted the raid at the North Searsole Colliery in Jamuria at approximately 1:30 AM on Wednesday. During the search of the two-story abandoned building, officers recovered one 7-mm pistol, one country-made revolver, two pipe guns, and eight rounds of live ammunition. No arrests were made at the scene during this specific operation.

Ongoing police investigation

Following the discovery, a formal case has been registered under the relevant sections of the law. Authorities are currently investigating the source of the weapons and determining if they were intended for use in criminal activities.
