Police Arrest ATM Fraud Suspect Operating in Siliguri

Officers from the North Bengal Medical College & Hospital Outpost have arrested 43-year-old Jaganath Ghorami for his alleged role in an ATM fraud scheme. The arrest took place after police received a tip about suspicious activities near an SBI ATM kiosk located in Kadamtala. Authorities seized multiple debit and credit cards along with a mobile phone from the suspect during the operation. The accused is a resident of the South 24 Parganas district and was operating under the jurisdiction of the Matigara Police Station.

Preliminary investigations suggest that Ghorami is part of an organized crime syndicate based in the Kolkata region. The gang reportedly traveled to Siliguri using a Mahindra Scorpio vehicle equipped with a fake registration plate. The group had established a temporary base in a hotel in the Fulbari area to target local ATM users. The Matigara Police have registered a formal case against the suspect to initiate legal proceedings.

Law enforcement officials are currently conducting search operations to locate the vehicle used by the syndicate. Police are also working to identify the specific hideout in Fulbari and apprehend the remaining members of the criminal ring.
