Pick-up Van Hits Truck in Jalpaiguri, Locals Loot Fish
A fish-laden pick-up van rammed into a parked truck near Domohani Mor on the national highway in Maynaguri on Monday morning. The accident left the driver and helper of the pick-up van seriously injured.
Accident Details
The pick-up van was passing through the national highway when the driver failed to see a truck parked on the roadside and hit it from behind. The collision was so severe that the front part of the pick-up van was badly damaged, and the driver got trapped inside the vehicle.
Rescue Operations
Police and fire department teams reached the spot immediately after receiving information about the accident. The driver was pulled out of the damaged vehicle after great effort and sent to the hospital. The injured helper was also admitted to the hospital for treatment.
Fish Looted From Road
Fish loaded in the pick-up van scattered on the road following the crash, drawing a large crowd of people. Some people were seen picking up and taking away the fish scattered on the road. Police have started an investigation into the cause of the accident.
