Physics Wallah CEO Supports Flood Affected Children in Assam

Physics Wallah founder and CEO Alakh Pandey visited flood-affected children in Guwahati on August 1 and 2, 2026, to provide personal support following the recent monsoon floods. During his visit, he spent time with families and students living in temporary relief camps. He took the children to a local restaurant for a meal and provided them with new clothes, daily essentials, and educational materials like textbooks to help them continue their studies.

Observations on Education and Safety

During his visit, Pandey noted that schools scheduled to reopen on August 9 would likely remain closed because many school buildings are still flooded. He stated that saving lives is the immediate priority and suggested that the region needs better scientific drainage solutions to manage future flood risks.

Government Flood Control and Relief Measures

In response to the ongoing crisis, Assam Minister Pijush Hazarika announced on August 2 that the Union Home Ministry has approved a Rs 692 crore flood control project. This project, guided by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, aims to convert local wetlands into reservoirs to better manage water levels. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed that the state government is handling the crisis without foreign assistance.

Financial Aid for Affected Families

The Assam government has already distributed an interim grant of Rs 15,000 to more than 62,000 people impacted by the floods. An additional payment of Rs 10,000 is scheduled to be released for families living in the Sivasagar and Charaideo districts.
