Phansidewa Panchayat Representatives Protest Against BDO

Elected representatives of the Phansidewa Panchayat Samiti, including the president, vice-president, and other members, held a protest outside the Block Development Officer (BDO) office on Wednesday. The representatives expressed their dissatisfaction regarding the lack of basic facilities and the alleged obstruction of development work in the region.

Allegations of Negligence and Obstruction

The panchayat representatives stated that despite one month passing since the formation of the board, the president has not been provided with an office room or an official vehicle. The vice-president of the panchayat samiti alleged that the BDO, acting as the executive officer, is ignoring panchayat laws and disrupting official work. Furthermore, the members claimed that proposals for development projects submitted under the 15th Finance Commission have been stalled. The representatives also highlighted that the president is currently being transported from home in a dilapidated official vehicle, rather than receiving the standard support expected for the office.

Administrative Response to the Protest

In response to the grievances, the representatives have formally reported the situation to the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) and the Additional District Magistrate (ADM). Regarding the ongoing issues, the District Magistrate stated that the responsibility for investigating the matter has been handed over to the Assistant Executive Officer of the Mahakuma Parishad and the SDO. The administration has confirmed that further action will be taken once the investigation report is submitted.
