Orang National Park and Tiger Reserve officially reopened its gates for the 2026-27 tourism season on Sunday, October 4, 2026. The park is situated across the Darrang and Sonitpur districts. It follows the recent reopenings of Manas National Park on October 2 and Kaziranga National Park on October 3. The commencement ceremony was held at the park's main entrance in Silbori village. It was presided over by senior-most forest guard Bhaben Boro, with field director-in-charge Abhijit Duarah and range officer Ankur Prasad Hazarika in attendance as reported by ANI News.
Park authorities have implemented a strict ban on mobile phone usage during both jeep and elephant safaris. This rule is in alignment with new directives from the Supreme Court of India. To ensure compliance with these safety and wildlife conservation protocols, visitors are required to deposit their mobile devices at the entry gate prior to beginning their excursions. The initiative is designed to reduce disturbances to natural wildlife behavior and enhance safety for all tourists.
Operational schedules for the season include elephant safaris conducted daily from 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM. Jeep safaris are available in two daily slots. These include morning sessions from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM and afternoon sessions from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The park remains accessible to the public every day except for Tuesdays. Local tour operators have expressed optimism regarding the season, citing robust advance bookings for rhino and bird-watching circuits within the region.
