Odisha FC and NorthEast United FC played out a goalless draw in their Indian Super League match at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on Saturday. Both teams failed to score despite creating several goalscoring opportunities throughout the match.
Moroccan striker
Alaaeddine Ajaraie missed a penalty kick in the final moments of the game. His shot from twelve yards struck the woodwork after Stephen Eze was penalized for handling the ball inside the penalty area. This late missed chance denied NorthEast United a victory and a chance to move to the top of the league standings.
NorthEast United created the first clear scoring chance in the fifth minute when Nikola Ninković connected with a cross from Jithin MS, but Odisha goalkeeper Hrithik Tiwari saved the shot. The hosts responded quickly when Everton Nascimento attempted a long-range shot from thirty-five yards that went wide of the goal. Tiwari made another important save later in the first half when Ajaraie tried to score from a through ball.
Both teams made several changes in the second half to find a winning goal.
Odisha introduced players like Nandhakumar Sekar, Rahim Ali, and Manuel Molina, while NorthEast United brought on Parthib Gogoi, Ethyan González, Redeem Tlang, and Imran Khan. Despite the fresh legs on the field, neither side managed to break the scoreless tie before the final whistle.
