The National Investigation Agency arrested the second accused in connection with the Improvised Explosive Device attack in Manipur. The attack took place at a residential house in Manipur on April 7 this year. Two minor children died and another person was injured in the blast.
The 48-year-old accused was identified as Thangmang Haokip. He belongs to the Churachandpur district in Manipur.
He was arrested on September 25 and produced before a Special NIA Court-II in Imphal. The court remanded him to twelve days of police custody.
Haokip is the second person to be arrested in this case. The first accused, S Palal Thadou Kuki, was arrested earlier on August 12.
Kuki is currently in judicial custody. The original case was registered at Moirang Police Station after unknown militants launched an explosive device from a hillside.
The case was re-registered by the anti-terror agency on April 23. The investigation is being conducted under the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Explosive Substances Act, and the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.
Further investigation is currently underway to identify and catch other persons involved in the conspiracy.
