National Highway 10 has officially reopened for vehicle movement on Thursday after remaining closed for about one and a half months. This crucial road restores the direct road connection between Siliguri and Sikkim, bringing major relief to daily commuters and travelers.
The highway suffered severe damage on
July 13 due to a massive landslide in the Bardang area near 20 Mile in Sikkim. The road was completely washed out, cutting off all vehicular traffic between the two regions for weeks.
Following quick reconstruction work, authorities opened the road for vehicles starting Thursday morning. However,
traffic police are deployed for security and only one-way traffic is currently allowed on this route to ensure safety.
