New Security Squad Launched For Women In West Bengal
The Asansol-Durgapur Police Commissionerate launched the Durga Suraksha Squad on Monday to strengthen women safety during upcoming festivals.
The special squad was flagged off by MLA and Minister Agnimitra Paul at a special event held at Sarat Manch in Asansol. Several senior police and administrative officials were present at the launch program.
Purpose Of The Squad
The special squad was formed to handle heavy crowds in markets, shopping malls, puja pandals, and public places during the festival season. The main goal is to ensure women safety, stop eve-teasing, and take quick action during any emergency. The squad members are equipped with modern weapons, fast communication systems, and patrol vehicles to keep a close watch on important locations.
Police Station Awards
Three police stations were honored during the event for better administrative work and cleanliness. Andal, Jamuria, and Pandaveswar police stations were selected as the best and cleanest police stations, and their officers received special certificates.
