A new prepaid taxi booth has started in Chalsa to help tourists during the Durga Puja tourism season. This new facility aims to stop extra charges and save visitors from dealing with middlemen when hiring cars.
The prepaid taxi booth was officially opened on Saturday in the Padarikuthi area along the Chalsa-Meteli state road. The initiative was taken by the Dooars Hill Chalsa Taxi Stand. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was done by Pavitri Rasaili Sarkar, the pradhan of Matiali-Batabari Gram Panchayat Number 1, along with other local dignitaries.
Tourists can now book vehicles at fixed and fair rates without any middleman. The booth will also provide proper information about famous tourist places like Gorumara, Murti, Jhalong, Bindu, and Samsing. Kamal Mukhi, the secretary of the Dooars Hill Chalsa Taxi Stand, stated that this step was taken to stop tourists from paying high fares through brokers.
