NDRF Searches For Two Students Drowned In Mahananda Barrage

Rescue teams have intensified the search for two class ten students who drowned in the Mahananda Barrage near Phulbari in Siliguri.

The search operation resumed on Monday morning with the help of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), civil defence, and police teams. Speedboats and divers are being used to search the Mahananda River, while teams are also checking different areas on foot. Authorities have not found any trace of the missing students yet.
How The Incident Happened
Three friends went into the river to bathe on Sunday despite warnings from locals. One student began to wash away in the deep water, and the other two got into trouble while trying to save him. Local people managed to rescue a student named Divyansh Saha, but his two friends went missing.
Details Of Missing Students
The missing students are Pragajyoti Das from Malda and Mohammad Safayel Hussain Nousad from Bangladesh. Both study in the tenth grade and live in a school hostel near Jotiakali. Families and local residents are praying for the safe return of both students as the rescue work continues.
