Nalbari Police have launched intensified security operations across the district to improve public safety and ensure strict adherence to motor vehicle regulations. These daily drives include vehicle inspections, document checks, and breathalyzer tests at various intersections and police outposts. The police are prioritizing the enforcement of helmet usage, seatbelt compliance, and valid driving license verification to maintain law and order.

Police Dismantle Illegal Gambling Operation

As part of these security measures, law enforcement officials successfully dismantled a large illegal gambling and unauthorized financial network on August 1, 2026. Following intelligence reports, police conducted targeted searches during the night of July 29 and the early hours of July 30, 2026. The operation specifically targeted individuals identified as Kalachand Ali, Atowar Rahman, Tutu Barman, and their associates.

Seizure of Cash and Gambling Materials

During the raids, authorities recovered various items linked to the unauthorized activities. The police seized ₹3,58,700 in cash and 614 passbooks under the name 'MAA BABAR ASHIRBAD', which are suspected of being used for illegal deposit and withdrawal schemes. In addition to the cash and documents, police confiscated gambling materials, one four-wheeler, and three motorcycles from the scene.

Ongoing Investigation into Illegal Activities

Official sources have confirmed that the network's operations have been disrupted. Investigations are currently active as police work to determine the full scale of the operation and identify all other individuals involved. This action is part of a wider effort by Assam law enforcement to stop illegal activities that threaten community safety and economic stability.
