Nagaland United Sports Club (NUSC) has become the first club from Nagaland to enter the Indian Football League (IFL). The Chumoukedima-based club will compete in the national second-tier league starting October 30 for the 2026-27 season.
The Chief Minister of Nagaland, Dr Neiphiu Rio, attended the opening programme at the Regional Centre for Sporting Excellence in Sovima. NUSC officially opened its club office and the Elevenses Cafe Lounge during the event. Other ministers and officials from the Government of Nagaland were also present alongside representatives from the All India Football Federation.
NUSC was founded in 2024 to give young footballers a platform to play and compete. The club finished third in the inaugural Nagaland Super League in 2025. NUSC secured its entry into the IFL through an arrangement with Aizawl FC, approved by the All India Football Federation, taking over the Mizoram club sporting rights. The team will play its home matches at the Chümoukedima Football Stadium in Dimapur.
The club will play its first match of the 2026-27 IFL season away against Real Kashmir at the TRC Stadium in Srinagar on October 30. The IFL Trophy Tour was also held in Chümoukedima ahead of the new season, where the club unveiled its three new jerseys for the debut campaign.
