Naga Students Demand End To 109 Backdoor Jobs

The Naga Students Federation has renewed its demand to the Nagaland government to immediately remove 109 allegedly unapproved job appointments across 16 state departments. The student body stated that the government has failed to act despite earlier representations and deadlines.

Details Of The Alleged Appointments

According to the federation, these appointments bypassed proper merit-based rules from the Nagaland Staff Selection Board and the Nagaland Public Service Commission. This action violated a government rule from June 2016 that banned backdoor and contract jobs.

Breakdown Of The Affected Posts

Leaders of the student body provided a detailed list showing that 96 posts fall under the Public Service Commission and 13 under the Selection Board. The affected departments include Transport, Public Health Engineering, Urban Development, Public Works, and Agriculture.

Next Steps And Government Meeting

A cabinet sub-committee is scheduled to meet to discuss this ultimatum from the student organization. The federation warned that it will launch protests if the meeting does not provide a satisfactory solution.
