Monsoon Continues Across West Bengal With Heavy Rain Alert

The monsoon remains active across West Bengal, bringing a spell of rain to most parts of the state. According to the latest forecast from the Regional Meteorological Centre in Alipore, residents should expect light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms throughout the region over the coming days.
Rainfall Forecast for South Bengal
South Bengal districts including Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly, and the 24 Parganas are expected to receive light to moderate rain. Some areas may experience gusty winds reaching speeds of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour. Special attention is advised for South 24 Parganas, where heavy rainfall between seven and 11 centimeters is anticipated between August 20 and August 21. East Midnapore may also see heavy rainfall around August 23.
Weather Update for North Bengal
North Bengal, including the hilly and terai regions of Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar, and Alipurduar, will continue to experience light to moderate rain. Due to the ongoing wet weather, authorities have advised monitoring the situation for potential landslides in the hills and waterlogging in low-lying areas.
Coastal and Sea Conditions
The weather department has issued a caution for coastal areas due to expected sea conditions. Waves reaching heights of 1.1 to 1.4 meters are likely along the West Bengal coast until the night of August 20. Residents in affected areas are advised to stay alert to changing weather updates.
