The government of Mizoram has announced plans to formally adopt the song Ro Min Relsak Ang Che as the official state anthem during the upcoming legislative session. Chief Minister Lalduhoma confirmed this decision during a recent public event held in Tlangnuam, stating that the government intends to pass a resolution to give the song official status. Governor General VK Singh has called for the monsoon session of the Mizoram Legislative Assembly to begin on August 25, 2026. During this session, the resolution to adopt the anthem is expected to be introduced for consideration. The Assembly Business Advisory Committee, headed by Speaker Lalbiakzama, will manage the schedule and specific tasks for the assembly session to ensure the resolution is processed effectively.

History and Cultural Importance

The song Ro Min Relsak Ang Che was written in 1947 by the well-known Mizo poet and songwriter Rokunga. The title translates to Rule over us and is widely regarded as a symbol of unity, devotion, and community identity within the region. Because of its deep historical roots, the song has remained a cherished part of Mizo culture for decades.
