Mizoram to Adopt State Anthem in Upcoming Assembly Session

The Mizoram government will introduce an official resolution during the upcoming monsoon session of the Legislative Assembly to adopt the song Ro Min Relsak Ang Che as the state anthem. Chief Minister Lalduhoma announced this decision during a public gathering in Tlangnuam on August 3, 2026. The legislative session is scheduled to begin on August 25, 2026, following a call by Governor General VK Singh, with the Assembly Business Advisory Committee overseeing the schedule.

Historical Significance of the Song

The song Ro Min Relsak Ang Che was composed in 1947 by the renowned Mizo poet and songwriter Rokunga. The title translates to Rule over us and the song is deeply connected to the cultural identity and unity of the state. It has been performed at major official functions and cultural celebrations for several decades, serving as a symbol of devotion for the people of Mizoram.

Once the Legislative Assembly passes the resolution, the song will receive official status as the state anthem.
