Mizoram Starts 2026 Festival Season With Pluck And Pay Event
Mizoram has officially started its 2026 festival season with the launch of the state's first Pluck and Pay Festival in the Khawzawl district. The three-day event is jointly organized by the Tourism Department, Government of Mizoram, and the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Khawzawl.
How The Festival Works
Visitors can enter local farms in Tualte and Chawngtlai villages, harvest fresh produce themselves, and pay directly for what they pick. This unique community-led tourism experience connects visitors directly with local farmers and producers to create new rural livelihoods.
Boosting Rural Economy
Tourism Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar stated that the festival reflects a larger vision where tourism benefits reach host communities directly. Official figures presented in the Mizoram Legislative Assembly show that tourist arrivals increased from 4,27,302 in 2024 to 8,41,322 in 2025.
More Events In The 2026 Calendar
Following this opening event, the state calendar includes the Anthurium Festival in Reiek, Hnahsin Kut in Champhai, and Travel Fest in Aizawl. The festival also features traditional Mizo music, dance, local cuisine, handicrafts, and recreational games.
