Mizoram Police Return Recovered Mobile Phones to Owners

How the police tracked the lost phones

The recovery operation was made possible through the use of the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal. This system is an initiative by the Department of Telecommunications that tracks mobile devices using their unique International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) numbers. Officers used this technology to pinpoint the exact locations of the phones once they were reactivated on various telecom networks.

During the handover ceremony, law enforcement officials urged the public to report any lost or stolen devices immediately.
