Eighty-three NCC cadets from Mizoram completed an intensive training programme at the Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare School in Vairengte. The training took place from September 21 to October 4.
Young boys and girls received training in the professional environment of the Indian Army. The two-week programme exposed cadets to military discipline, physical standards, field skills, and team spirit. Cadets took part in drill, physical training, firing, map reading, fieldcraft, survival training, first aid, and team-building activities. They also learned about jungle warfare, weapons, equipment, and night-vision devices.
Cadets learned about the changing character of modern warfare through visits to the Information and Research Centre, IED Hall, and Technovation Hall. These visits familiarized the youth with technology, innovation, and modern military training developments. The camp encouraged cadets to build confidence, discipline, leadership, and a spirit of service by training together in mixed groups.
The initiative highlights the engagement of the CIJW School with the youth of the state. Bringing NCC cadets into the training environment aims to broaden their exposure and strengthen their connection with national institutions. The programme reflects the effort of the school to use its capabilities for character building, national integration, and strengthening the bond between the Indian Army and the local community.
