A massive midnight fire broke out in a residential complex named Smriti Plaza in the Battala area of Srirampur. Several bikes and bicycles were destroyed after flames quickly spread from the meter box where the fire is initially believed to have started due to a short circuit.
One fire engine rushed to the spot after receiving information and started rescue operations.
Firefighters managed to bring the fire completely under control within about an hour through their quick action.
No human casualties were reported as timely control over the flames saved the residents of the housing complex.
The exact cause of the fire and total damage will be officially confirmed only after a proper investigation by the fire department.
