Mass Resignation of 21 TMC Councillors in West Bengal

Twenty-one Trinamool Congress councillors of the Shantipur Municipality in Nadia district have submitted their resignations together. This mass resignation has put the survival of the municipality board in deep crisis and raised concerns about affected civic services.
Reasons Behind the Resignation Crisis
Civic services in Shantipur Municipality faced constant questions recently, mainly due to a dispute over unpaid salaries of temporary sanitation workers. Workers protested outside the municipality office and the chairman's residence, demanding their long-overdue pay.
Resignation of Chairman and Vice Chairman
The chairman Subrata Ghosh and vice chairman Kaushik Pramanik had already resigned from their posts earlier. Following their exit, the remaining 21 Trinamool councillors decided to resign collectively after mutual discussions.
Current Status of the Municipality Board
Shantipur Municipality has a total of 24 wards, where 22 were held by the Trinamool Congress and two by the BJP. With one Trinamool councillor having passed away earlier, the resignation of the remaining 21 councillors leaves the board completely paralyzed.
