Manipur Security Forces Arrest Man With Hand Grenade

Security forces in Manipur arrested a 56-year-old man in the Imphal East district on August 1, 2026, after recovering a hand grenade and ten live rounds of 9mm ammunition from him.

Arrest in Khongman Area

The arrested individual has been identified as Laishram Lakpati Singh. He was apprehended by security forces during an operation carried out in the Khongman Zone-III area.

Illegal Weapons Trade

According to official sources, Singh was allegedly involved in the clandestine buying and selling of illegal weapons, bullets, and explosives in the region. Security agencies started the operation after receiving specific intelligence regarding these illicit activities.

Evidence Seized and Investigation

During the operation, forces seized a hand grenade (No. 36) and ten live rounds of ammunition as physical evidence. Singh was handed over to the local police station for further questioning.

Authorities have registered a formal case and started a comprehensive investigation. The goal is to find the origin of the explosives and identify other people involved in the illegal network.
