Manipur Police Seize Heroin in Major Anti Narcotics Operation

Bishnupur District Police, in coordination with Central Security Forces and Churachandpur District Police, conducted a joint operation on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, to intercept a vehicle carrying illegal narcotics. The security teams identified and stopped a Mahindra Scorpio SUV, bearing registration number AS 01BQ 0104, which was traveling from Churachandpur toward Imphal. This operation resulted in the successful recovery of 96 grams of suspected heroin hidden inside nine soap cases.

Suspects Arrested and Evidence Seized

Following the discovery of the illegal substances, security personnel apprehended two individuals found inside the vehicle. The suspects have been identified as 29-year-old Md. Abdur Rahaman and 24-year-old Md. Saruk Khan. Authorities seized the Mahindra Scorpio SUV along with two mobile phones as material evidence in the case. The two men were taken into custody immediately following the search of the vehicle.

The arrested individuals are currently facing charges under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Law enforcement officials have launched a detailed investigation to determine the source of the contraband and identify potential supply networks involved in moving illegal drugs across the region. Further questioning of the suspects is underway to gather more information regarding the incident.
