Manipur Distributes Food Baskets To TB Patients

Nutritional food baskets and handheld X-ray machines were distributed to tuberculosis patients and their family caregivers in Manipur. The event took place at the Manipur State Film Development Society in Imphal under the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan of the National TB Elimination Programme. The program was organized by the National Health Mission and Directorate of Health Services, Government of Manipur, with nutritional support provided through the Nikshay Mitra initiative by the National Thermal Power Corporation Limited under its Corporate Social Responsibility program. Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla distributed the food baskets. The ceremony was attended by the Governor of Manipur Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Chief Secretary Rajeev Singh Thakur, NTPC Chairman and Managing Director Gurdeep Singh, and Commissioner of Health and Family Welfare Sumant Singh. Nutritional food baskets were distributed across all 15 districts of Manipur. Handheld X-ray machines were also given to strengthen TB screening and detection services in the state.

Speeches And Support Details

Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla emphasized the need to collectively fight tuberculosis and stressed that TB is a curable disease. He encouraged patients to remain strong and complete their treatment. State TB Officer Dr. Hemalata Thokchom stated that nutritional support is necessary to improve the immunity status of patients. Commissioner Sumant Singh highlighted the importance of nutritional support, early detection, and collective efforts to achieve a TB-free Manipur.
