Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh stated that the state government is open to dialogue to resolve all grievances. He appealed to the public to stop bandhs and blockades because they harm daily wage earners and economic activity. Speaking at the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan event in Imphal, the Chief Minister noted that the state lost around Rs 1,300 crore in revenue over the last three years due to the crisis that started on May 3, 2023.
During the financial year 2023-24 alone,
Manipur lost nearly Rs 475 crore in GST collection. The Chief Minister urged people to talk to their local MLAs and the government instead of calling strikes.
He reiterated that all problems can be resolved through discussion. He also mentioned Singapore as an example of economic success through unity and asked people to work together for economic growth.
The Chief Minister spoke about the central government deferring the Census exercise in Manipur after considering public feelings and local concerns.
He highlighted the nationwide Seva Sankalp Abhiyan outreach, which runs from September 17 to October 17, 2026, to check the delivery of welfare schemes.
The event included inspections of stalls and interaction with local beneficiaries and officials.
