Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh urged people to forget political differences and work together to bring back peace in the state. He made this appeal while speaking at an inauguration event in the Imphal East district on Monday.
The Chief Minister said that people on all sides of the conflict are facing big hardships. He mentioned his meetings with internally displaced persons who want to go back to their homes, assuring them that every effort will be made to help them return safely.
Khemchand Singh stated that development is impossible without peace and asked members of all 36 communities in the state to help stop further fighting. He also recalled historical events where different communities united to protect Manipur and urged everyone to use that same spirit of teamwork today.
During the event, the Chief Minister inaugurated five new development projects in the Keirao Assembly Constituency. These projects include a modern market, two bridges, a working women hostel, and sports infrastructure built with support from schemes like PMGSY and the Khelo India Scheme.
