Punjabi singer Maninder Buttar has finally broken his silence on the recent controversy involving singer Daler Mehndi and an Uttarakhand minister. Earlier this month, Daler Mehndi performed at a tourism fair in New Tehri, where BJP minister Subodh Uniyal interrupted him on stage and accused him of being drunk. During the confrontation, the minister also made remarks about Maninder Buttar regarding his past visit to the region.
On Monday,
Maninder went live on Instagram to express his disappointment over the remarks made by the minister.
The singer stated that he wants the truth to come out and requested the minister to upload the complete recording of his 2019 show in the state. He clarified that he has always maintained dignity and respect during his performances and has never performed under the influence of alcohol.
Singer Mika Singh also came out to
defend Daler Mehndi against the allegations. Mika stated that his brother has been unwell for the past two years and does not consume alcohol.
Mika requested the minister to apologize for labelling Daler Mehndi an alcoholic, stating that the remarks have harmed the veteran singer's reputation worldwide.
