Police in Siliguri have arrested a man for driving a car with an Army sticker into the VVIP security zone near the Uttaranya helipad in Phulbari.
The accused has been identified as Digambar Roy, also known as Bapi, who is the son of former Trinamool Congress block president Dilip Roy.
NJP police station officers arrested him late Tuesday night and produced him in the Jalpaiguri court on Wednesday.
Siliguri Police Commissionerate Deputy Commissioner Rana Mukherjee confirmed that one person was taken into custody for entering the high-security zone without authorization.
Authorities are currently investigating whether there was a security lapse during the Chief Minister's visit to North Bengal.
